Mahi Mahi / Dorado

Mahi Mahi are bright greenish blue above with yellow on sides, and have the capability of flashing purple, chartreuse, and a variety of other colors. The Dorado or Mahi Mahi has a tapered body, sharply from head to tail with gold or blue spots over the side.

Mahi are found in the warm waters offshore, average weight around 30 pounds, can get up to 75 pounds.  Mahi mahi are one of the fastest-growing fish, thought to live just 5 years, their swimming speed is estimated at 50 knots. They can spawn in the warm currents through most of the year. Mostly feeds on flying fish and squid.
